At the risk of stating the obvious, we feel the need to say that Kickstarter ... is awesome.

Better than fairy godmothers, genies and wizards, but still with the power to make all your wildest dreams come true, Kickstarter connects a community of passionate people with creatives and innovators looking for funding for their 'next big thing.' Since 2009, the folks at Kickstarter have pledged over $250 million to projects they thought ruled, and as a result 24,000 projects that started as a simple idea have been able to become a reality.

If you're one of the people with a 'next big idea,' Kickstarter may just be the answer you've been looking for.

In this Dabble class, students will learn how to leverage the Kickstarter platform to set up rockstar campaigns that will get you not only funding, but also exposure, for your genius project or product. Class will cover:

-How to create and set up a Kickstarter project
-The basics of creating copy & video
-Setting realistic and deliverable rewards and premiums
-How to set goals & achieve them, and
-Leveraging social media and email marketing to get promotion and publicity for your product.

Walk away with a better understanding of the types of projects that succeed on Kickstarter, and a rundown of the 'rules of play' of the platform, so you can stop wishing on a star to make your dreams come true.

What to Bring

An idea of what you want to raise funding for and something to take notes with.

TAUGHT BY Aalap Shah Crop_ver4_djp0604

Aalap Shah co-founded a social media agency, SoMe Connect, that works with businesses to create awareness, gain traction and generate revenue for their companies. Aalap recently consulted on behalf of a client on a crowd funding platform and raised $30,000 within 28 days of launching the campaign for a total of $60,000 raised with the match (meeting their client's goal and allowing them to pursue their dream projects!). Additionally, he's consulted on three other Kickstarter specific projects in various stages of development, including one launching the first week of July for a film. Aalap hopes to demystify the Kickstarter process, and help other curious Dabblers with a great idea make their dreams a reality.
