Tech Cocktail makes one last visit to the windy city in 2009! Tech Cocktail is a highly anticipated event, so register now before it becomes sold out. Here’s what you can expect:

Meet fellow Groupies and Groupon employees at SmartBar before the Peter Bjorn and John show! Those 21 and older can share in the excitement of the night’s concert, as well as tips on pretending you know the lyrics for the opening act’s songs, and a heated debate on crowd sourcing vs. crowd surfing. Our friend from up north, the always smiling Doni, will be returning to Chicago this month, and you know what that means… a blogger hang! Of course, you don’t have to be a 20-something, or a blogger for that matter to come out.

We’ll be meeting at State, but we can bounce around to a number of other bars in the area afterwards.

On Tuesday November 10 from 6-8 pm, staffers from the music conference, festival, and sales departments will be on hand to discuss SXSW 2010′s new features and plans. Space and free beverages are limited, and our guest list will quickly fill up. So RSVP before next Friday November 6 to MusicRSVP@sxsw.com. Speaking of deadlines, Friday November 6 is also the deadline to apply to showcase your band at SXSW 2010. Do it today!

We don’t normally post promotions here*, but this one was pretty unique and very relevant to Chicago. Katy, Community Manager at Where I’ve Been, tipped me to a promotion they are beginning today which runs through Friday, October 2 and the announcement of which candidate city wins the 2016 Olympic Games. They are giving away a trip for one twitter user to ANY of the candidate cities; Chicago, Rio, Madrid or Tokyo. (Although since you’re already in Chicago, I wouldn’t recommend picking Chicago Whether you are for or against the games coming to Chicago, we can all appreciate a free vacation to an amazing city!

Red Eye’s Outdoor Tweetup

The folks from Red Eye like to make a splash when they do things, and this tweetup is no exception. They’re proclaiming this as the greatest, biggest tweetup ever. We’ll leave that for you to decide, but they are definitely making sure this is a very unique event.

The tweetup will be held in Pioneer Court (you know, that big open space with the statue of the farmer and his wife? The statue of Jack Brickhouse?? That big moose sculpture? Yeah, that place). They will be putting up large tv screens with live tweet streams (presumably from tweeters present at the event using a special hashtag) and even twitter trivia.

Even better, you’ll be entertained by Chicago greats iFight Dragons and Matt Ryd! How cool is that? Food and drink will also be provided. Follow @redeyechicago to learn how to win a free, commemorative tshirt.
